LifeCell Corporation

strattice-carton-800

Headquartered in Branchburg, New Jersey, LifeCell develops tissue repair products for use in reconstructive, urogynecologic and orthopedic surgical procedures.

Challenge:

Produce highly accurate, precise packaging artwork that meets FDA and CE compliance requirements in the U.S. and European markets, in English as well as 11 languages. The product packaging, which includes cartons, outer and inner foil pouches, data cards, IFUs, all labels and bar codes, is valued in the millions of dollars.

Solution:

Developed and implemented a production workflow for LifeCell’s packaging division and all packaging vendors to establish consistency, efficiency and most importantly, accuracy and FDA compliance.

Implemented a Digital Asset Management [DAM] system for the management of thousands of art files and all the metadata, which tracks the change-order audit trail. Graphic Matter currently serves as the LifeCell Archivist for all packaging artwork and image files.

Results:

Our vendor relationship has developed into a “hub” role, working between vendors and LifeCell’s Packaging Engineering Team. Improvements include:

  • 98% improvement in packaging production accuracy
  • Streamlined workflow process
  • Detailed records of all revisions and version control
  • Central library of art files and brand elements
